Tronico’s story is deeply rooted in Saint-Philbert de Bouaine, a small town in the Vendée region of France, where we set up the business in 1973. It owes its existence to Gérard Plet, CEO and founder, but above all to the residents of that small town, who invested their savings to build this electronics subcontracting business.
When it was founded, Tronico had 30 employees, and its main clients were Sercel and Electronique Marcel Dassault. It quickly became one of France’s top 10 electronics subcontracting companies.
In 2004, to support our growth and meet growing demand from our customers, we set up our sister company Tronico Atlas in the Tangier Free Zone in Morocco. Tronico Atlas has 6,000 m2 of production space and 500 highly qualified staff members who can meet the most demanding requirements of the aerospace, energy, medical and military markets. This best-cost producer in Morocco allows us to seize opportunities in industries that require a high level of reliability, and helps us raise our international profile.
Since the 2008 financial crisis, Tronico has pursued a diversification strategy. We have moved into new industries, including the space and medical markets. We have also set up an R&D department in order to provide our customers with a comprehensive service, from expression of requirements to the manufacturing of equipment. By broadening our business in this way, we have attracted new types of customers.
We have also capitalised on our expertise by creating our own brands:
– Tame-Component specialises in testing components and ensuring the reliability of electronic systems
– Tame-Power develops innovative power conversion and distribution solutions
– Tame-Test offers innovative testing solutions to optimise the production of sub-assemblies
– Tame-Care specialises in designing and manufacturing medical technologies
Today, Tronico’s corporate purpose is to invent and produce electronic systems that meet the demands of our lives. To achieve that, we focus on our people. Tronico is a group of 1,000 women and men, in France and Morocco, working to serve a number of crucial industries: aerospace, space, medical, energy and defence.
Our success relies on three fundamentals: effective, ongoing training for our teams, an extremely rigorous approach to quality, and a strategic, carefully considered development policy. These attributes allow us to remain at the cutting edge of innovation and to meet the ever-growing requirements of our customers.
